Sunset Beachfront Hale Kalea

The City of Honolulu recently enacted a law which allows rental houses such as this one to be rented only once within a 30 day block of time. While few guests visiting Hawaii are looking for a 30 day rental, the law is that the owner may only rent the house once within a 30 day window, regardless of how long or short the stay of the visiting guest. Our Rental Agreement and scheduling has now been adapted to comply with this new requirement.

Remodeled, very private 4 bedroom plus 2 futons, 4 1/2 bath, upscale furnishings and amenities, imported Ohia logs, gate, vaulted ceilings upstairs and down, two story open floor plan. The home offers 2 King size beds, 2 Queens and 2 Futons. 3 of the bedrooms are ocean front, as well as, the futon room. The 1st level has the main living space, a King oceanfront bedroom and a Queen bedroom. The 2nd level has a King bedroom with futon inside, a Queen bedroom with additional entry to outside and another futon area between the 2 rooms.
Enjoy 2 separate outdoor showers for your convenience- 1 Tropical hot shower, 1 cold beachfront shower! Our remodel offers stone floors, granite, marble, custom cherry cabinetry, slate rock, a jacuzzi bath tub, colorful Hawaiian surf art and stainless steel appliances. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need, including a beautiful view of the ocean. Every bedroom is equipped with their own TV and there are 4 DVD players. Wifi, a home telephone, Blue Tooth Speaker in Living Room, Apple IHome Speaker w/ Clock in every bedroom.
The large wrap around deck, beach front and partially covered, is ideal for out door dining, gas BBQ grilling and checking the surf or watching humpback whales. An additional small deck is upstairs offering remarkable views of the ocean. Grocery store, Starbucks, famous Ted's bakery and gas station nearby. Near tropical four mile bike path from Sunset Beach to Waimea Falls, tennis and golf, fine restaurants and local Hawaiian food in Historic Haleiwa Town. Snorkel out front, swim with turtles at the popular Sharks Cove, hike in the tropical Pupukea hills, horseback ride on the beach, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center, miles of sandy beach in the back yard....peaceful enjoyment without resort crowds!! Cruise down the bike path..
You'll never want to leave!

For the children: Pak n Play, Stroller, Safety Gate are stored with beach equipment in garage. Laundry Area in garage as well, all for guest use. Plenty of guest parking is in driveway as owner keeps a car in the garage.

Disclosure: The amount of sand located in front of Hale Kalea and surrounding area depends on the ocean conditions.

  We had a great time at this beautiful location. I was traveling with 6 Adults and a 1 year old. The surf was high and loud and beautiful. Some of the previous reviews talk about the difficulty getting to the sand. We did not have any trouble but on our last night the water washed away all of the sand beneath the steps. No worries though, great beach access is just a few houses down! My only complaint was the creature comforts of this house. The pillows were old, mismatched and horrible. The matress I slept on was not great. The window and door screens were all torn, to get any airflow you also allowed a few bugs inside. I felt like the house could use just a little TLC and be perfect. It had a well stocked kitchen. The highchair was pretty dingy but the washer and dryer were amazing. My kids took the bikes out for a quick ride and had a ton of fun and even saw one of their surfing idols!They also surfed with the boards at the house and I was terrified for them!I gave 4 stars for the property management only because I felt like there could have been a little more communication, better directions to the home and quicker responses. I would stay here again but pack my own pillow!

  Our family had an amazing week stay at this beautiful beach home. The Floorplan was perfect for our family as there were 2 bedrooms on the 1st level and 2 on the 2nd. My older parents did not have to climb any stairs. Cannot beat this location! Across the road is the Sunrise Shack and half a mile away is Ted's bakery. We had a spectacular dinner at Lei Lei's at the Turtle Bay Resort only a few miles away. Foodland and the food trucks were only 2 miles away. The home has everything you could possibly need during your stay. We made some wonderful memories on this trip. Thank you so much!!!

  Amazing beach house. Excellent views with waves just pulling up next to the house. Well stocked up-to-date kitchen and utensils. The large kitchen island was a center for our family gatherings. We beach-drove the entire Island, and North Shore is ideal. Honolulu is near 1 million population, Haleiwa is 6000. No high rises, plenty of clean uncrowded beaches. We visited food trucks, had shaved ice daily, and enjoyed shark cage dives, scuba, and the local Luah. My sons played gold at the nearby Municipal golf course with cliff views. Kudos to Tara for a well-kept and prime time retreat!

  Two couples rented this home for a week at a cost of $9k. We expected luxury for that price. While the view was spectacular the home is in need of major maintenance. This home is missing day to day maintenance that you wouldn't live with at your own home. You are greeted with a gate that is held open by a rope and piece of broken PVC, the claim that you "might need the gate code" is ludicris.The first sight of the home is a battered screen door where the screen is ripped andhanging by a thread. Mold in the bathroom shower doors that need replacing, a slider that doesn't work (due to a $2 part that needs replacing), curtain rods hanging off their holders, windows that havent' been washed in years. The whole house needs an indepth dusting and cleaning. The floors were clean and the kitchen was clean. For $9k for a week, we expected much more in the way of basic cleanliness and state of repair conditions. Combined with no access to any sand in front, which I get is an act of God, but should be duly noted on the website and is not. The photos on the website are obviously very old, it doesn't look like this, worn furiture, old/ratty deck furniture, tattered barstools. We made the most of it, but we wouldn't stay here again or reccommend.

  Our family loved the sunrises and sunsets from the deck overlooking the ocean every day of our stay.,. We found the kitchen to be well stocked for cooking. The air conditioning in each of the bedrooms worked very well. You can hear the ocean from every room in this house which was my favorite thing about staying here. Personally, I enjoyed being in Pupukea very much and enjoyed having a good grocery store right down the road from us. I think the temperatures are slightly cooler here than they are in downtown Haleiwa and I was glad we could easily travel to Haleiwa. Fun to visit Haleiwa but so glad we didn’t actually stay in Haleiwa due to all of the tourism/traffic congestion. We enjoyed watching the surfers catch waves each day from the deck and the breeze was always blowing. The living room sectional couch was very comfortable as were the beds. Sliding glass doors in the living room were tricky to slide. Could use some adjustments but we just used the side that was working probably so as to not further hurt doorway. Screens are a bit tattered but there really aren’t any bugs anyway so that didn’t matter. Landscaping is perfect.

  We wanted to be on the North Shore and this home was perfect for our group of 8. The location is convenient to everything on the less hectic side of the island. Sunset Beach is a short walk away. Being able to sit out on the deck and watch a spectacular sunset and all the waves and surfing can't be overstated. If you like to sleep to wave sounds this place can't be beat.

  This house was equipped with everything we could possibly need. A day at the beach, a night cooking and eating in, you name it. The owner of this property is amazing. She was extremely helpful and accommodating. It was a comfortable home away from home. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors that we did see were friendly. The property was clean and well maintained. I would most definitely recommend this property to our friends or relatives for sure. While in Hawaii, we went on a private helicopter tour, submarine scooter tour, shark cage diving and parasailing. We at at Lei Lei's which was amazing, we also ate at various food trucks and never had a bad meal there. We also ate at Haleiwa Joe's and again it was amazing. I highly recommend the seafood chowder there. Best I've ever tasted.

  Great location directly on Sunset Beach for a nice vacation with our family. The good: House has a lot of amenities for beach use (2 surfboards, 2 bodyboards, beach chairs, umbrella, etc... Great location, good appliances for cooking, washer/dryer, A/C. The bad: I would say that it isn't newly remodeled. The access to the ocean via the staircase is completely unusable and unsafe (had to use the neighbors entry which wasn't terrible, but not exactly what we thought we were getting). The gate entry to the driveway is not electric as mentioned in the description(manual only).
